"That's going to require a lot more thought," Parker said.
Does she really have a plan?
Wilson, taking the perspective of an outsider, said the clerk's office should be more accommodating to the courts. Several years ago, in her role as a probation officer, she helped set up the felony drug court. Other departments contributed staff time to the pilot project, she said.
"We always got a 'no' from the clerk's office," Wilson said.
Both candidates would continue the expensive but necessary process of moving old court files from aging microfilm to compact discs, but they are divided on another technological issue.
Wilson is more aggressive about getting court files online, a goal that gives Parker pause.
"That's going to require a lot more thought," Parker said. "The judges, at this point, have not been in favor of going through that. I just think there has to be a lot more research."
